Decatur, IL - McKinley Court Care Centre, 500 W. McKinley Ave. is excited to announce the addition of a new Chaplain, Gary Borders, to our community. Gary, 53, was born and raised in Lincoln, Illinois until he later moved to nearby Decatur, where he attended MacArthur High School. He worked at Illinois Power for 25 years before becoming music director at New Beginnings Church of God in Decatur, Illinois. Gary's love of music drives his passion and he believes that "music helps people to relate to each other, this in turn starts conversations and builds relationships." A member of the band "Kid Cadillac", which plays early rock and roll, Gary sings and plays keyboards. Some of his other interests includes playing sports, such as basketball and golf or cheering on his favorite teams; the Cubs, Lakers and Cowboys. (Hmmm, we may need to have a talk with Gary about the Lakers and Cowboys).
Gary has been married to his wife Annette for ten years. He has 4 children and 5 grandchildren. He also has two brothers; Jerry, who lives in Florida and Mark, who resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
Although he has a schedule at McKinley Court Care Centre and nearby Aspen Ridge Care Centre, Gary is available to provide support and encouragement to the residents in our community as well as there families ay any time. We look forward to all the great things that he will provide our community. *WELCOME GARY & FAMILY*
