McKinley Court Care Centre - Decatur, IL

McKinley Court Care Centre recently held their Fall Health Fair for their residents, as well as the public.  There were several local health care related companies, providing information and services.  Along with the Health Fair, McKinley Court's Activity Department held the final fundraising events for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  A Bake Sale and a Silent Auction were held and several of the residents also sold the iconic pink bracelets to raise money.  Even the proceeds from food sales for the day, were donated.  All in all, McKinley Court raised over $1,200 for Breast Cancer research.  Pam Erwin, Activities Director said, "I really tried to get as much donated for the event as I could.  Most of the auction items and food items were given to us by local vendors and organizations. It really helped us to maximize our funds for the donation.  We really appreciate all of the generous donations."
In addition to the generous donations of action items and food, there were many volunteers who donated their time to help raise money and work at the Health Fair.  From greeting guests as they arrived to working the auction, the volunteers helped make this a fun and successful event.  A special thanks goes out to Steve Bingamon, son of resident Imogene Bingamon, for volunteering his services for the fair and so many other activities and events throughout the year. He commented after the event, "I love to help out whenever I can.  I really enjoy it."
